Founder's Hall, Girard College, 1201-1211 West College Avenue, Philadelphia View looking southwest showing the hall constructed 1833-1847 in the Greek Revival Style after the designs of Philadelphia architect Thomas Ustick Walter. Girard College was established through a bequest from Stephen Girard, a Philadelphia financier and philanthropist, for the creation of a school for "poor white orphans."
